Huskies are great with humans and would never hurt them but they aren’t very good with animals. They have an instinct to hunt and there is a very distinct pecking order with them as they are pack animals. If they are to be friends with another animal, they need to be introduced young. So I would suggest you keep your dog away from your neighbors animals from now on.

MY HUSKY LIKES TO LET OTHER DOGS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD KNOW WHO’S THE BOSS. SHE’LL BARK AND GROWL AT THEM AT FIRST AND ONCE THEY KNOW DAISY’S THE BOSS SHE PLAYS WITH THEM?? A DOG BREEDER AT WORK TOLD ME SOME DOGS JUST LIKE TO LET OTHER DOGS KNOW WHO’S THE BOSS.

Yes, Huskies are dominant dogs and they will fight with any dog that tries to mess with their authority. However, if the dog will submit to them, they are fine. Huskies love to play with other dogs, but they have to be on top of “the dog pile” if they are to get along.

The same thing happens to my oldy. When he acts up I take his leash and teather it to a railing or leave the room for a few minutes. This helps him settle down. All he wants to do is play and he doesnt realize how rough he is.

Snubbull used to run amuck every now and then – just for fun. BUT she is extremely strong and when she started play biting us it was no longer funny. We bought a NZ$1.99 water pistol and shot her straight between the eyes. She is not afraid of water but the water pistol terrifies her. We only did it once but to this day as soon as we show her the water pistol she takes off! We found it a cheap, harmless and effective way to stop her in her tracks. I have since heard that it can be used to control excessive barking in all breeds also! Give it a go. For a few dollars you have nothing to lose and your pet will not come to any harm either. Good luck.

we’ve had the same thing happen with chopper my 1 year old. we also used the water idea. we use a spray bottle that sprays a direct stream at him and he stops right away, and hes not afraid of water either in fact he loves his baths and play pool.

my bulldog jaxon never bites me, but he attacks any one who comes near me. i dont know what to do. ive tried every thing. he put my mom in the hospitle cause she came late from work can some one help me?

Our English Bully is over 2 years old now and instead of calming down- he’s getting more out of controll. He now snaps in our face…extremely needy for attention but will attack when stop petting. He’s fixed and if anything, that’s made him hornier. I love him to death but he’s a monster!!! hehe

let him run it off more and you will see it is just his need to get it out of his system ,evry dog has his own personality too so try to act like you ar the boss whenever the opertunity comes up like when you get visiters or food or bed time make him sleep somwhare els other than in your bed you can show this (without)! punishment just take charg of your hous(those changes will let the big guy know he is not #1) and can keep any passiv agressions to a min and read up on some dog communication skills too ,learning is key.

just like any american bulldog, they are very strong and powerful, socializing them at an early age, and , most important!!!, TRAINING< TRAINING< TRAINING. start this as soon as you can, 8 weeks is not too young. and remember that training never ever stops. be committed to your AB and they will be forever committed to you.

Nationwide will insure pitbulls that have passed the canine good citizen test.

Farmers insurance was willing to give us insurance for a pit bull for $150 a year on top of our renters insurance. Unfortunately our landlords homeowners insurance company convinced her to change her mind about letting us adopt one. We are currently trying to get others involved to see what can be done about this before more Pits are destroyed at the shelter.

A pitbull and an american bulldog are similar but different at the same time. Although they share some common bulldog blood they are also different dogs. Some ab’slook more like pitbulls than others. American bulldogs are usually bigger than pitbulls, more protective than pitbulls, and usually a little less athletic than pitbulls due to their increase in size. Both are good dogs so people shouldnt get caught up in what is better. Get the one that fits your personality best. They are both bulldogs but they went off in different directions.

APBT’s were originally a 50 / 50 mix of american bull dog and stafford or amstaff – Terriers, and were originally bred to be used by butchers in texas – look up Bull Baiting, you’ll understand why. I own a couple APBT on with more dominant Bull dog genes and the other with more terrier, both very very smart, loyal well behaved and great with children my 6 year old can take away fresh bones from either of them, that is how they are trained.. I would not have a poorly short tempered dog.

The American Pit Bull Terrier has been bred for hundreds of years and they certainly aren’t a cross of American Bulldog and Staffordshire terriers. The very thought of which makes me want to vomit. They are a cross between the original bulldog (the one used for bull baiting) and the old “bull and terrier”.(a cross between the original bull dog and a now extinct black and tan terrier)
They were then selectively bred for hundreds of years to be the best possible fighting dogs. They came to America with Irish immigrants to Boston. The staffordshire terrier and pit bull terrier USED TO BE THE SAME THING A COUPLE HUNDRED YEARS AGO but after generation after generation of breeding for different purposes (show vs. fighting) they are no longer the same breed. In my oppinion most of the valued apbt qualities have been bred out of the staffordshire. The American bulldog is a great dog, definitely more useful than an amstaff, but not the same as a pit and not meant to do the same job.

The English bulldog is known for its grumpy appearance and wrinkly skin, while an English mastiff stands as one of the largest dog breeds. The English Mastiff and English Bulldog share similar characteristics, such as color, a stocky appearance and facial features, but the two dogs have a lot of differences as well. A Mastiff is noticeably larger, and stands higher, whereas a bulldog is short and is closer to the ground.

1. Look at the size of the dog. The most glaring physical difference between a mastiff and bulldog is their size. An adult female and male mastiff is typically between 140 to 160 pounds. Males are 31 to 34 inches tall and females are 27 to 29 inches tall. Conversely, the female bulldog generally weighs in at 40 to 45 pounds and the male weights 50 to 60 pounds.

2. Look at the ears. A mastiff’s ears are V-shaped, while a bulldog’s ears are rose shaped.

3. Examine the tail of the dog. A bulldog’s tail is low set and small, while a mastiff’s tail is high set and significantly longer.

4. Look at the dog’s face. Although the mastiff and bulldog have similar facial features, the bulldog’s jowls are larger and more pronounced with a turned-up jaw, while a mastiff has slightly smaller jowls and a lower hanging jaw.

5. Examine the dog’s legs. A bulldog’s legs are mostly bowed, with small, straight forelegs. A mastiff’s legs are longer and straighter.

American bulldogs generally have a friendly temperament around people. They are characterized by their stocky bodies but shouldn’t be confused with pit bulls which they strongly resemble; American bulldogs are a bit taller and less aggressive. Prospective owners should consider if this breed of dog is the right choice for them and then proceed with an inquisitive mind to find the best breeder for a healthy bulldog puppy with a compatible personality.

1. Determine whether the American Bulldog is the best breed for you. These dogs are very devoted but may show some aggression toward strangers or other animals. You need to spend a lot of time with bulldogs as they very social and need regular exercise. Keep its excess energy in check or behavioral problems may develop.

2. Decide between a male or female dog. Male dogs are less moody than female dogs and generally more friendly but may be more aggressive. Female dogs are prone to hormonal mood swings and are usually affectionate only when they want to be.

3. Choose your bulldog puppy from a respectable breeder rather than a pet shop. Pet shop puppies are almost always from puppy mills or commercial breeders with no guarantee on their health. Avoid individual breeders who raise puppies in kennels as well since they may be a puppy mill in disguise.

4. Ask the breeder questions about his experience with breeding bulldogs, the reason he is breeding them and the quality of care given to the puppies regarding situations such as the environment they were brought up in. Request to see any related health records to check on any likely genetic conditions and if possible, ask to see the parents as they will be good models of how the puppy will turn out.

5. Run a personality test on each puppy of the litter. An extremely energetic puppy may likely grow up too bold while more reserved puppies may make calmer companions. Try to choose a puppy that is somewhere in the middle so there won’t be a power struggle or so that you won’t have a puppy that is overly submissive.

6. Request some time alone with the puppy of your choice. If there are no drastic changes in its personality away from its litter, the two of you get along great and everything else in its background looks good, this American bulldog puppy may make a good choice as a new addition to your home.

According to the American Kennel Club, the French bulldog, or Frenchie, is “prized for their affectionate natures and even dispositions,…generally active and alert, but not unduly boisterous.” Training a Frenchie can be a challenge unless you find a way to make the sessions seem like a game for your dog. Dogs of this breed can be people pleasers, but may also be hard-headed and stubborn. Potty training a French bulldog may take a few weeks to months, but puppies can be expected to have the occasional accident until they are 6 to 8 months old.

1. Confine your French bulldog to a crate during the times you are unable to directly supervise him.

2. Develop a daily “potty routine” that includes leashing your French bulldog as soon as you wake up in the morning and telling your dog, “let’s go potty,” to begin familiarizing it with the phrase so it will associate it with relieving itself.

3. Take your dog directly outdoors to the area in your yard you would like it to use as the bathroom. French bulldogs are rompers, so your dog may be easily distracted and want to play. Redirect your dog by telling it “it’s time to go potty.”

4. Praise your dog by saying “good dog!” excitedly once it relieves itself in the yard. If your dog doesn’t go potty, take it back inside and put it in the crate. Try the potty routine again every 10 minutes until your dog goes potty outside.

5. Repeat the potty routine after each of your dog’s meals, before you leave the house, when you return home, first thing in the morning, and last thing before you go to bed at night.
